Who We Are
Our team was founded by Steph Beard, a former graduate and current veterinary technician at the UMN , who has been monitoring the campus for bird fatalities for several years. Steph applied for, and received, approval for installation of a bird-safe window film on campus and has been busy researching window film options, connecting with others who’ve piloted similar projects, attending meetings, fundraising, and getting everyone organized.
Joanna Eckles, the Community Outreach Coordinator for Audubon MN, has been an invaluable advisor helping to guide the conversation and connecting with window film manufacturers, as well as attending meetings, fundraising, and educating everyone on the importance of bird-safe glass.

Miranda Brandon, an artist, adjunct photo professor, and UMN grad, was recruited by Steph through her association with Audubon MN and The Raptor Center, both places she has volunteered. Miranda has been responsible for helping with fundraising, creating and maintaining this website as a resource to support the call for design submissions, and organizing submissions.
Olivia Crowell, an environmental studies student at the UMN, contacted Steph and joined the team after discovering we were heading up a project similar to one she wanted to propose for bird-safety on campus. Olivia has started a campus club, Art for Birds, that will support fundraising and promotional efforts on campus for the design call.
